Ex-Regular or Reservist

Ex-Regular or Reservist soldiers can join the reserves directly depending on how long ago they left the army:

Completed Phase 1 and 2 training, and are an ex-Regular or Reserve soldier, or commissioned officer, in the Army, RAF Regiment or Royal Marines.

You cannot re-join the Regular or Reserve if:

You were medically discharged as P8 or P7 or were graded Medically Non-Deployable (Permanent) at the point of discharge.

However, we understand that your circumstances may have changed and, exceptions may be made if it is in the service interest to do so.

Re-joiners can start the application process as long as they enlist as a soldier before their 52nd birthday, or as an officer before they turn 55.
